A Stratified Approach to Metric Self-Calibration

چکیده
Camera calibration is essential to many computer vision applications. In practice this often requires cumbersome calibration procedures to be carried out regularly. In the last few years a lot of work has been done on selfcalibration of cameras, ranging from weak calibration to metric calibration. It has been shown that a metric calibration of the camera setup (up to scale) was possible based on the rigidity of the scene only. In this paper a stratified approach is proposed which gradually retrieves the metric calibration of the camera setup. Starting from an uncalibrated image sequence the projective calibration is retrieved first. In projective space the plane at infinity is then identified yielding the affine calibration. This is achieved using a constraint which can be formulated between any two arbitrary images of the sequence. Once the affine calibration is known the upgrade to metric is easily obtained through linear equations.

A Novel Stratified Self-calibration Method of Camera Based on Rotation Movement
This paper proposes a novel stratified selfcalibration method of camera based on rotation movement. The proposed method firstly captures more than three images of the same scene in the case of constant internal parameters by panning and rotating the camera with small relative rotation angles among the captured images. After feature extraction and matching of captured images, the pixel coordinat...
متن کاملA new stratified self-calibration algorithm under small camera rotations
In this paper, we consider the problem of self-calibration from image sequence taken by a camera with constant intrinsic parameters. Stratified approach starts from projective calibration, refines it into affine calibration and finally upgrades it to metric calibration. Both linear and nonlinear algorithms were proposed for projective and metric steps. The affine step was reported to be the mos...
متن کاملSelf-calibration and Metric 3d Reconstruction from Uncalibrated Image Sequences
This thesis discusses the possibility to obtain three dimensional reconstructions of scenes from image sequences. Traditional approaches are based on a preliminary calibration of the camera setup. This, however, is not always possible or practical. The goal of this work was to investigate how this calibration constraint could be relaxed. The approach was twofold. First, the problem of self-cali...
متن کاملSelf-calibration of Varying Internal Camera Parameters Algorithm Based on Quasi-affine Reconstruction
This paper presents an method of self-calibration of varying internal camera parameters that based on quasi-affine reconstruction. In a stratified approach to self-calibration, a projective reconstruction is obtained first and this is successively refined first to an affine and then to a Euclidean reconstruction. It has been observed that the difficult step is to obtain the affine reconstructio...
متن کاملA New Approach to Self-Localization for Mobile Robots Using Sensor Data Fusion
This paper proposes a new approach for calibration of dead reckoning process. Using the well-known UMBmark (University of Michigan Benchmark) is not sufficient for a desirable calibration of dead reckoning. Besides, existing calibration methods usually require explicit measurement of actual motion of the robot. Some recent methods use the smart encoder trailer or long range finder sensors such ...
